St. Mary’s Celebrates Pink Shirt Day with Faith in Action

St. Mary’s Celebrates Pink Shirt Day with Faith in Action

St. Mary’s Celebrates Pink Shirt Day with Faith in Action
Students and staff proudly filled our hallways with vibrant shades of pink as a sign of
our commitment to kindness, inclusion, and respect. Anchored in faith, our school
community reflected on the words of Jesus, “Love one another as I have loved you.”
(John 13:34)
Throughout the day, classrooms participated in meaningful conversations and prayer,
exploring how we are called to stand up for others, especially those who are feeling
left out or hurt. Students participated in many activities including kindness pledges,
and getting to create their own personal pink shirts. Our older students used this day
as an opportunity to lead by example, gathering with their class buddies to talk about
how small acts of kindness can make a big difference.
Pink Shirt Day at St. Mary’s was a joyful reminder that we are a community, and when
we choose kindness, we reflect the light of Christ in our school and beyond.

Good News Story - Sacred Heart School/École Sacré Coeur

Good News Story - Sacred Heart School/École Sacré Coeur

December was a joyful and faith-filled month at Sacred Heart/Sacré Coeur as students, staff, and families came together to celebrate Advent, serve others, and grow in their faith.

We began the season by celebrating the Feast of St. Nicholas with a school Mass on December 6, beautifully hosted by our Grade 6 students. Following Mass, our school community gathered for our much-anticipated annual Christmas Dinner. This cherished tradition would not be possible without the generosity and dedication of our Catholic School Community Council, who organize and serve the meal each year. Their service embodies the spirit of community and hospitality, and this event continues to be one that students and staff look forward to each December.

Faith formation was at the heart of our Advent journey. Our Grade 2 students celebrated the Sacrament of First Reconciliation, marking an important milestone in their faith lives. At the same time, the remainder of the school had the opportunity to participate in Reconciliation with Father Thuy and visiting priests. This sacred experience allowed students to reflect, pray, and reconnect with their faith, reinforcing the importance of forgiveness and God’s mercy during the Advent season.

Our school community also demonstrated the true meaning of almsgiving through several acts of generosity. Students and staff supported the Angel Tree initiative by “Packing the Cruiser” with donated toys and held fundraisers to purchase two Christmas hampers for local families in need. In addition, students generously donated new pajamas to support the Kinsmen and Kinettes. These efforts reflected our commitment to serving others and living out Christ’s call to love our neighbours.

Families were welcomed into the school for a special evening of Polar Express activities, culminating in a movie night. It was a wonderful opportunity for families to gather, connect, and share in the excitement of the season. Seeing students joyfully engage in activities alongside their families outside of school hours was a meaningful reminder of the strong partnership between home, school, and faith community.

We concluded the year by coming together as a school community for a Caroling Concert on the final day before Christmas break. Parents, students, and staff joined voices in song, sharing carols, hot chocolate, and cookies as we joyfully headed into the holiday season. It was a fitting and joyful way to end 2025—united in faith, gratitude, and community.

Faith and Talent Shine - St. Olivier

Faith and Talent Shine - St. Olivier

Faith and Talent Shine at St. Olivier’s Annual Christmas Concert

On the afternoon of Wednesday, December 10, the gymnasium at St. Olivier School was filled to capacity as parents, grandparents, and community and Parish friends gathered for the annual Christmas Concert. The atmosphere was electric with anticipation, and the students did not disappoint. From Kindergarten through Grade 6, the students took the stage with confidence and joy. It was clear that the children were exceptionally well-prepared, delivering polished performances that ranged from the touching nativity story in "A Gift for Jesus" to the high-energy musical numbers of "Jingle Bell Jukebox." The afternoon was guided by the school Principal, who did a fantastic job as the Master of Ceremonies, keeping the energy high and the audience engaged between acts. The event was also a testament to the dedication of the St. Olivier staff. Through their hard work and direction, they demonstrated true faith leadership, ensuring that the true meaning of the season remained at the heart of every performance. The concert concluded with a moving finale that united the entire room. The audience joined the students in a reverent rendition of "Silent Night," followed by the students singing "Children of the Light." It was a truly heart-warming afternoon that left everyone carrying the spirit of Christmas home with them.

Setting Sail into 2026 - St. Augustine

Setting Sail into 2026 - St. Augustine

Happy New Year from St. Augustine School

As we set sail into a new year, our anchor in Christ is wrapping around the staff and students and carrying them through a journey of grace, peace and love in 2026.

St. Augustine students closed up their 2025 year with a Christmas concert, Yulewitness: a Christmas Podcast that featured all of the significant people in the Nativity, recounting their role and anticipated excitement for the birth of Jesus Christ.  The songs were sung beautifully as the lyrics resonated within the walls of St. Augustine Parish where the concert took place.

During the season of Advent, each of our classrooms received a gift of a Lego-brick Nativity set Advent Calendar that each student participated in putting together daily.  What a beautiful message we could share with our students that our Faith is almost like putting a puzzle together.
At first, we only had a few pieces. Some made sense on their own, others didn’t seem to fit anywhere and we needed to read the instructions or ask a friend for help to piece everything together.  We may feel unsure, even frustrated, because we can’t see the whole picture or end product, but we trust that the Nativity Scene exists.

As we keep going, praying, learning, loving, and trusting God, more pieces begin to connect. Experiences, Scripture, and the people God places in our lives start to form patterns. Even the difficult pieces, which we might wish weren’t there, turn out to be necessary for the picture to be complete.

We didn’t put the Advent Nativity Scene together all at once. Faith grows slowly, piece by piece. Sometimes we step back and realize that what once looked confusing now makes sense in a new way. And even when the scene isn’t finished, we trust the One who sees the whole picture and gently guides our hands as we build it.

Before we left for our Christmas break, the students had a completed Nativity Scene which reflects the true meaning of Christmas; the birth of our Saviour, Jesus Christ.
